Perhaps one of the most asked questions when people get on a our Peruvian Horses is... What style of riding should I use, Wester or English? Well the answer is neither, you will be riding Peruvian Style.
The Peruvian Style is a 400 Year old advanced style of riding developed specially to benefit the horse and the rider, because of the unique genetic identity that the Peruvian horse is and certain key physical differences from other breeds this horse needs a unique way of riding. In return the rider experiences the smoothest ride in the equine world, with mininal effort from the rider.
Riding Peruvian style is easy and confortable, most riders learn the basics in only a few minutes, and within the hour they are riding on their own and in gait.
Gaits
The gait of a Peruvian horse can be as slow as a walk or as fast as an extended trot or slow canter. Both the gait and termino (the flashy leg action) are completely natural. They are not induced or aided in any way by artificial training or devices. The Peruvian Horse can cover 80 kilometers a day at a constant and smooth Paso Llano gait, this is the ideal working speed which is about 12Km/hr, and it is a significant accomplishment for a horse to maintain this speed and gait for several hours.
